Default Passed Emissions!

I figured I'd run to the testing station after work today because I'm fixing to tear into it to replace a leaking diff. seal and it may be out of commission for a while. I didn't really run it hard or anything prior to the test due to traffic and knowing that waiting in line would let it get plenty hot. I pull up to the facility and you guessed it, no line. I'm signaled in as soon as I hit the lot. It still built up plenty of heat while they were punching me up on the computer. Since it was my first time in this car I went by the book: Idle in park, no AC.

Here's my grades for the summer semester of studying at Corvette Forum University:

HC 216.7 Limit 220.0
CO .86 Limit 1.20

Gratitude goes out to all those responses and helpful tips to previous emissions and tune up threads. The previous owner told me he never passed the first run and always had to keep the rpm's above idle to pass.

Over the summer I've completed the following tune up items in preparation for the emissions test:

Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, new intake gaskets, cleaned throttle body, new IAC, descreened MAF, TB coolant bypass, chasing down vacuum leaks, fuel filter, TPS calibration, set base timing 6`, set minimum idle speed, built ALDL cable, logging data.

Thanks again!

First, congratulations. The pressure is off. Passing grades, but certainly no Rhodes scholar. I'd be looking into those HCs in my spare time if I were you. They're awful.

What year is your car? Those are the same standards mine has to meet.

'85-auto, all stock: prom, TB, injectors.

Does it make sense that the ECM measures that it's lean and then adds more fuel to compensate and then creates a rich condition?

I've tried propane and pulling off vacuum lines and putting them back on to try to find the source of any extra air.

Oh well, I love a challenge. Now back to that pinion seal...

Yes, but... A rich mixture would show as a high CO reading. HCs are UNburned gasoline. Like, could be caused by a misfire or gasoline in the oil. I should post the numbers from my old, no smog equipment, 400 CID carbed, 4X4.
