The manual transmissions had 3.45 gears and all were D44's

but his car is an automatic.

The 3.45, is that stamped on the case? if so, then it's a D44.

No, I saw this rear on ebay with those specs, and the guy doen't know anything about it, except for he says its new and it looks new. Those are the numbers he posted. But he does not seem to know what type of rear it is.

Default Number of bolt holes?

Are the number of cover bolt holes different between the 2?

According to the GM C4 parts catalog, that CQR code indicates it's a Dana 44 3.45 (as do the teeth: 38/11=3.45). However, are you sure about that part number? I couldn't seem to find it....

I'm not sure about any of it to be honest. I need a Dana 44 and this guy on ebay has one for super cheap. He says he is cleaning out his brother's garage and says thats what it is. I did see pics. It has the differential and the batwing. Also it has two bolts on the top and three on the bottom I think.

I posted an illustration of the two from my 96 Helms manual in the thread below but I know someone here actually has a pic of the two side by side. I want to say it was either a CF member from Scandanavia or Mr. Mojo but I'm just guessing now...
