Has anyone been able to upgrade your driving lights to put out a brighter light to make your Vette more visible in the daytime? What worked for you? I have read the "101 Projects" recommended upgrade, but can't seem to find the part numbers/bulbs they are referring to.

I think the 96s already have those brighter driving lights. There's a product though, that allows your turn signals to also be used as Daylight Running Lights (a la C5s). Forty bucks:

I upgraded my bulbs to the 50W ones, but can't really tell much of a difference. The stock ones were 37W. You should be able to find the bulbs mentioned in the "101 Projects" book at any of the large auto part chains (NAPA, Pep Boys, etc.). The other thing you can do is pull one of your buls out and take it with you to the store and try to find a 50W one that is dimensionally the same. Good luck.
The stock housings can't really take a lot of wattage as the plastic material was never designed to handle heat or have a way to pass air thru them. The 50w bulb is about as high as you can go safely without melting the housing or having issues with too much current draw in the wiring where you risk wires melting or constant blowing of the circuit fuse.
I don't think that the lights were really meant as a true "driving light" but more of a fog lamp. They do a decent job of lighting the road for about 100 feet and out to the sides somewhat, but nothing like a lamp that has a pencil-type beam.

i wish someone made a kit to where to running lights/turn signals were on the high setting untill you needed to make a turn. know what i mean? currently they sit on the low setting untill you turn then they brighten up and start blinking. i would like mine to do the reverse. am i making any sense?

I believe the product mentioned by tobijohn in your post is exactly that. Check it out for yourself.

Actually, the Corvette's exported to Canada had DRL's mandatory. They turn on the front parking lights bright as soon as the parking brake is released (for manuals) or the car is put into gear (for automatics). There is a module and a sensor that also turns the headlights on when it gets dark. Most people disable it because over time it becomes way too sensitive.
If you want the driving lights on and the parking lights on, just turn your lights to the first setting.
