I have an 89 vette which has had numerous mods. I took it to fuel injection services and was going to have them reprogram my computer, but before they could they told me i had fouled 3 plugs and had an exhaust leak at my h pipe. Well i did not leave it for them to fix because they gave me some crap about having to take off the exhaust and take it to a muffler shop in the back of a truck. So i picked it up and it drove fine until i noticed that i had fouled more plugs. What could the problem be?
mods:
compression boosted 9:5 to 11:0
rebuilt motor
fully balanced
floating connecting rods
dual purpose street and track cam
hedman headers
centerforce dual friction clutch
cf pressure plate
cf flywheel
lingenfelter intake manifold
lingenfelter superram
52mm throttle body
afpr
heads 48 cc to 56cc heads fully ported and polished
roller rockers
msd wires
dual valve springs with titanium retainers
cloyes true timing chain
airfoil
k and n airfilter
frisbee gone
what could be the causes and why?
i need to know if an oxygen sensor is required and if this could cause a problem. My headers did not come with the o2 sensor or a place for one.
If you are usng GM F/I in closed loop..then YES and YES!
You can buy the O2 bung from Summit, Jegs, etc.. And you may be able to get one at a muffler shop and have them weld it on.
Its the little things that people forget to mention that leads to running around...like no O2 sensor...

You should be seeing a check engine light if you have no O2 sensor hooked up, your car cannot go into closed loop without an active O2 sensor (at least mine can't...I found that out accidentally). In short...get an O2 bung welded in and an O2 sensor in there ASAP!
