My oil temp and trip odometer bulb or bulbs went out and I wanted to know the part number for the bulbs and if they can be picked up at the local auto parts store ? Would it be best to replace just the bulbs that are burned out or would it be wise to replace em all at once to have the equal amount of brightness ? One other thing... can the dash cluster be taken out without removing the top dash .. and rather just only the console dashes ?
Well I went to several auto parts stores and no one has the 882's.. it is unavailable. It was coming up on their computers listed as " compare to original" ... several different part numbers listed as 882 replacements and were unavilable as well. Couldn't even order them. The only one I was able to get were the 161's. They costed me 5 dollars for 4 and they were compared to original and were the wedge type bulbs. Will this work? The 882's were 10 bucks apiece ! and unavilable anywhere.
I think I might be able to help. I recently went through this with an '86 I'm working on. The problem is that the bulbs are not the common wedge type that everything else in the world has. You can buy the individual sockets to convert to the wedge type and use those 161 bulbs, but they end up being longer and might get too close to the display board and melt it. I found some stock type bulbs at Radio Shack with the two wires sticking out instead of the wedge. I cannot remember the number off hand, but they have a drawer with several bulbs in it so do a little searching and you'll find it. Good luck.

Hmm.. I called up radio shack in the area.. and for some reason they had no idea what I was talking about and didn't understand 882 or what I was searching for. Are there any special websites where I can order these bulbs at wholesale prices or cheaper ?
that's the thing, they're not called 882's, they're some Radio Shack number, but they're there....unless your Radio Shack doesn't have the drawer bins with relays/switches/LED's/potentiometers, etc...which is where they're at. I'll try to remember to look when I go finish putting my '94 together tonight and get a number for you.
I have some 194 bases. They will screw in to your digidash in place of the 882 bases pictured above. They are a little dimmer than the halogen 882s but don't eventually desolder the dash. The bulbs on the left are white LEDs that are much dimmer. Never used them because they are too dim for my own liking.
I found the bulb.. but its 12.90 each. Still too expensive. They even ask if theres a coupon code. Do you have any for this site ? I found the bulbs in Mid America and it costs slightly less than what this site provides.
Sorry it's taken this long, but I finally found the number for those bulbs from radio shack. Hope it helps you and maybe others too. It is, as per receipt, 2721177 12V20W HALOGEN BLB at $1.99 a piece. Good luck with it.
If you read on you will see that someone wrote you cannot directly replace those. To use the 194's you have to remove the entire gauge cluster and change bulb and socket. That is entirely possible, but if you can get bulbs that plug directly in from Radio Shack for 1.99 a piece, then why not?
I wouldn't use the 1.99 specials which are 20w. The 882's are 6w. Pay more for the 882's which run cooler and save the circut board. The 20w globes will be too hot and may do serious expensive damage.

So is this a direct replacement ? No modifications of any are required ? and will the level of brightness be the same ? If not then I will just order the 4 set from Mid America for 50 dollars and be done with it.
I do not remember the numbers of what is or isn't supposed to be in there, but I can tell you, DO NOT USE THE WRONG ONES.
About six years ago my entire panel died. I took the panel out of the car and found that someone had replaced the bulbs with the wrong ones. It had overloaded the ground circuits and melted the plastic on some of the connectors between the circuit boards. The instrument panel is made up of several circuit boards sandwiched together.
You don't want to go there. Not over a couple (4) of silly light bulbs.

I'm sorry, I was unaware that the 882's are only 6 watts I hate the idea of having to pay $13 for a freaking bulb, so I'll keep searching.
I'd rather convert to 194 bulbs. They are much easier on the dash than the halogen 882 bulbs are. This conversion is easy as it only took me 30 minutes on my digidash.
