I really like them but I just can't justify that OUTRAGOUS price for those little things. Not to mention that that price is before paint (couple hundred $$) and install (couple more hundred $$). Before you know it, if you don't do the work your self they will have probably set you back almost a grand.
To set the record straight regarding the Greenwood louvers, those made by Mold Kraft are copies of the Greenwood design and were in no way authorized. They are made of lesser quality materials (hence the price difference) which means they might warp or bubble over time. Also, the Greenwood louvers include under-hood baffles that ensure any water is redirected away from the engine compartment. Maybe the Mold Kraft louvers include the baffles, too, in their "functional" version. Can't tell from their description, or lack thereof.

"After much analyzing they choose to strike a deal with Greenwood Automotive productions to reproduce the legendary Greenwood Ground Effects products. Mold Kraft Manufacturing has been trusted for the past 15 years to use their 40 plus years combined experience to produce The Greenwood line."
Right, Mold Kraft has been making the Greenwood line for many years. It was fairly recently that it changed. I think you are just paying for the name and longer warranty getting the "true" Greenwood products. Mold Kraft as the functional (with the baffles that ensure any water is redirected away from the engine compartment) and the ones that are just cosmetic (no slots). The body shop guys that painted mine thought they were very good quality.
I'm not one that likes any kind of body kit stuff added on, but I really like those louvers. They do not take away at all from the overall design of the car, and if they work and help remove some of that excessive underhood heat, all the better!
Mold Kraft was contracted by Greenwood to produce their early C4 kits only - the Aero Plus and Motorsports kits. They were given the molds and instructions on how they were to be built, and Greenwood was supposed to be paid for every piece sold. Well, that scenario worked for a while until Mold Kraft started making the product with lesser materials than specified, and eventually copying the Greenwood designs without the Greenwood name on them. The cheaper products cut Greenwood out altogether, but that didnt' stop MK from captializing on the name, which it still does, for the time being. As far as the louvers go, those were copies also and weren't part of the original deal. Same story with MK's "C5 Race Wing". It's a cheap copy of the Greenwood GC4 wing. Apparently there were no patents on these pieces, so they were fair game for people like MK and C5 West. It's one thing to take one's design and make cheap copies (imitation...flattery), but then to use the original's name in promoting their forgeries is just plain unethical. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. Those who are really getting the short end are the unwary buyers who think they are buying a Greenwood product, but end up with an inferior piece that can warp, shrink and bubble over time. Not saying all do in all cases, but Greenwood pieces never do. Period. Like in every market, there's the expensive, high quality products, and there's the cheap low-end stuff (and a smattering of in-betweens). On the one end you buy it once. On the other end you buy it several times over. You get what you pay for. Sound familiar?
So..maybe a little too easily..bu I'm confused...I'm thinking about getting a ground effects kit (and now a set of louvers) for my 92, but I only want the best. I've been eyeballing the www.greenwoodvette.com c4 ground effects kit (the 899 one at the top of the page). How's that in terms of quality?
The original intent of these types of vents is to remove pressure from the wheel wells right?, allowing better brake cooling and downforce. They should sell one that is ducted through the fender liners or replaces the fender liners.
