I have a 1985 Corvette and have a rattle in the drivers side door particularly when the window is down. I checked the shop manual and have removed the door panel to try to find out why the window is ratteling. The diagram in the shop manual does not break down the door assembly very well. I understand there are window guides that sometimes break, but I couldn't find any. I am sure this is a common problem, can someone that has cured this problem please give me a hand? Pictures or an assembly drawing would be a big help. Thanks
The door windows on my '89 rattle when closing them if they are anywhere other than all the way up or down. I have moved in the guides, but the problem is that is puts extra pressure on the window straining the motor. I moved them back to a neutral position and the rattle is reduced slightly. I do not think you can completely solve this problem without replacing the entire window track and linkage.

I have tried to fix this problem for days on mine- including new window tracks and upgraded assemblies. I have found that the window being curved only contacts certain parts of the guide and pads either all the way up or down. If you preload the door glass at the halfway mark, it will bind in the pads all the way up or down possibly breaking the glass or taking out a window motor. Also the front window scissor floats against the glass with just a light pad between. Very poor design. If someone has a solution, I'd like to know about it. I have checked alot of cars at shows- roll window down 1/3 way and close door= window rattle/slap.
