Default " 5,700 " and then some???

Tonight on my way home from work i noticed that my slightly modified LT1 revs quite freely up to 6,000 RPM. This is what i know is changed, Crane Cams 1.6:1 roller rockers, after market valve springs and a different cam. The engine seemed to still be pulling VERY strong at this speed, and what id like to know is, can i safely rev to this engine speed with the mods i have listed here or will it do damage? I heard no noises from the engine (apart from a beasty V8 roar) and even at 6,000 RPM it was still pulling like a 14 yr old that just found his old man's **** mag stash.....

The valve springs are the weakest link of the LT1 engine. If you put in decent springs you should be safe to spin to about 6500. Above that you're risking bottom end failure.

Naturally you'd have to reprogram your rev limiter to let this happen.

Yeah mate i dont know exactly what they are...look very pretty though!! (thats really top of the list of priorities now isnt it!!) It was all done before i bought the car, so id imagine the rev limiter has been raised as well.

So to make a judgement on what you have said here Nathan, if i have decent valve springs i should be safe to rev to 6,000 without doing any damage?

Stock LT1 in this video, but remember, the factory tach is off by 100- 500 rpm, so you may think you are at 6000, but in reality it may be 5500-5800(rev lim kicks in at 5800).
