Default Which Alternator?

I called NAPA for a new alternator for my 85-- and the kid asked 120 or 180 amp. Why would there be two options for the same year?

Better question, which one do I want? 85 Vette, 4+3 gear box.

thanks
jp

I think you want the higher Amp one. More juice.

Buy from alternatorparts.com they have excellent choices and instead of buying a oem replacement go for cs144 conversion (ur's is isxx) and buy an adapter easy to do but have to wait few days after u placed the order.

I bought mine from there few months ago upgraded to CS144 (140 amps) for 170 bucks and adapter to go with for 12 bucks, this is the best bang for the bucks trust me. Infact i have upgraded CD player with 400 amplifier and other few electronics works damn good and trouble free.

Check this Tech for 85 alternator upgrade:

Here is mine after upgraded:

Instead of ordering online call them B/c they have too many choices u might get confused which one to go for.
