What size hole for knock sensor/coolant temp sensor?
I'm having my heads drilled and tapped for the coolant temp sensor and knock sensor. Are they both 3/8"? I trust the head shop to do it right, I just want to make sure there's nothing unusual that I need to tell them first before they do the surgery. Thanks
Its not the knock sensor, though the driver's side head does have a sensor with the same type connector as a knock sensor.
The passenger side is the coolant temp "switch", I am not sure what the other sensor is right now, nor do I know the size.
As suggested above give the guy the piece to go in, I am pretty sure it is 3/8 npt too though.
For 1986, the left head, between the #1 and #3 spark plugs, takes the axillary fan switch. The right head, in the same hole, which is between the #6 and #8 spark plugs, when you swap sides, takes the sending unit for the instrument panel temperature gauge. The knock sensor goes into the block, water drain hole, just above the pan rail, on the right side of the engine, just forward of the starter.
