Default Yank vs Precision Industries

I need a converter for my 85 Vette. I am looking at Yank and Precision
Industries. Each sounds very good so I am having a hard time deciding. I have used search but did not find very much good information.
Precision Industries replied to an email I sent and said a 2500 rpm stall sounds good. (told them I was thinking of using a 2500 stall)

Yank called me on the phone and recommended an SS3200, and explained why it was a good choice and not too high of a stall. They answered every question I had.

So far I am favoring Yank since they called me instead of just replying to an email. This shows better customer support.

Please let me know your stories (good or bad) if you have used either of these.
Thanks

For some reason Yank always seems recommend a higher stall than Precision...don't know why...I have seen good reports on both companies so it seems to be a personal preference...I know folks with both and they each say good things about both converters and companies...good luck

Both are excellent companies... Deep Freeze does cryogenic processing for both of them; Yank used to be located in Alma, AR. and PI is in TN so they're very close to me. Both make excellent converters and have big followings. Personally I prefer Terry's stuff (PI), particularly for street cars. His customer service is tops and if you need the converter stall speed changed he does it quickly for no charge (which most reputable companies will for the first reflash). You will not be disappointed with either company. Another one to possible look at is Edge Racing Converters; they're also a customer of mine and build VERY nice converters. But, I generally use Andre's stuff in race cars with TH350/400's; though I've talked a couple of friends into trying their lockup converters and both have been very happy. But for me, Terry and PI are the ones I'll generally choose.

You are not likely to get a lot of comparative information. It's a lot like asking the better header size. Few people have experiences with both. You get a lot of, I like my ???'s. I have a 2600 rpm stall Vigilanti, and it works well for me. Is there something better? I wish I had tested them all and made comparisons, so I could tell you. I've tested several different header set ups on several different engine set ups, so I can speak with more authority on that subject.

RACE ON!!!

i used both and they work very good for street/race setup . the PI went 2 tenth faster and better 60 ft than the yank on the same combo .

I realize that very few people have used both. I am sure they are both very good converters. I guess I am more interested in customer service. How did they handle problems etc.
I am tired of companies that want nothing to do with me after they get my money. Customer service is the number one thing I look for now, with warranty number two, and product reputation number three. Price does not really matter. I am willing to pay more for better quality service.

Yank said their converters are a little more efficient on the street than precision industries. That is probably why they recomend a higher stall.

I have never heard of Edge.

red L98, what was your combination and why did you try both converters?

CFI-EFI "I have a 2600 rpm stall Vigilanti, and it works well for me."

What else have you done with your car? There's not much information in your profile.

Not much to put in there. The only other major change is my hand porting of the stock Crossfire intake manifold. Anything else is just mostly tweaks and tuning. *I* think it does reasonably well.

Ask them to define efficient. I am not sure what they mean. Sounds like some saleshole attempting to give you a line of sht. I have a PI and am very happy with it so far (only had it in since May.)
