Have you looked at the Edelbrock heads ? Part # 60879 ! I just got a pair of these for my 87 L98 .

No experience with the SBC version, but had some with Patriot's LS1 heads. The LS1 heads were a great semi-budget application. Had a couple buddies making about 425 RWHP with those heads, a TR 224 cam, and longtubes. Max effort LS1 head/cam cars can see upwards 440 RWHP, but they kinda get tough to drive on the street. These heads came within 30 HP or so of the 'max effort' cars fo far less cash, so in my book that's pretty good.
