'86 Battery Problems
I had a 84 month battery (NAPA) in my '86. Since it was nearing the end of its life, I purchased a Delco to have ready. The old battery was functioning fine with good starting and charging. Yesterday, without warning, it refused to even turn over the engine even though all of the other electrical components worked fine. I was able to get a jump and made it home OK. I replaced the battery and all is fine now. Usually, one has at least some indication that a battery is ready to fail. Why do batteries used in L98 engines act like this? This happened to me about 10 years ago with a similar experience.

It's not just an L98 problem. A battery can die in any car at any time. When they quit suddenly, it usually means that a plate or plate connector has broken internally usually from either fatigue or vibration.
