I have an 88 vert it has the 12 inch brake rotors on the front. Question inorder to put the 13 inch rotors on the front what is necessary ? Also why is there a left and right rotor ? Can the original calipers be used , i just need the total skinny of converting the 12 inch to 13 inch rotors.
Thanks
There are C4 (J55 brakes) 13" rotors and C5 conversion to C4 13" rotors.
I'm guessing that you want the later C4 J55 13" brakes.
If that is the case, you need these parts for J55 brakes:
1) 13" rotors -- larger in diameter and width than the 12"
2) calipers -- J55 calipers have a wider slot to allow the wider 13" rotor to fit
3) caliper brackets -- these move the caliper farther from the wheel center-line to position the caliper to the outer edge of the larger diameter 13" rotor.
The pads are the same for the 2 piston 12" and 13" J55 brakes.
The rotors are "directional" because the vanes in the center are angled to increase air-flow in one direction only for better cooling.

Actually the best bang for the buck is the conversion to the c5 13" front system, but you will probably need to change wheels to do it.
I have an 88 and I found all the parts here on the Forum
I bought a set of very nice Y2K wheels for around $ 800 and sold my 88 17" for $ 300
I bought the caliper brackets for $ 75.00 (Ed Salinas is higher now) and bought the roters and calipers for less than $ 200
Keep an eye on the C5 parts for sale section and you can do the conversion cheap
