You can run the 275/40/17 or the 285/40/17 all around or mix them, your choice. Some say the 275 is actually the ideal match to the 9.5 wheel.

That's the tire sizes I have, but the 285 would gain more on a 10 or 10.5 rim instead, as I only gained approx. .500 -.750 more width the height went to 26'', change on spedo is minimal. I think the 18x10.5/315 rears would be way to go as above mentioned, if I were doing the zo6 style rim. m7

Please post the weight of the new wheels compared to your stock wheels. I've heard/read that the Z06 repos are very heavy.

When I bought mine (can be seen in link in sig), I weighed the compared to my CE wheels and they were abou 2-3 lbs MORE per wheel. I don't recall the exact weight.

i think your right, that's why i'm going to call the shop in the morning and see if he'll let me get the 18's for the rear. if so, i'm going to go with 275/40/17 up front and 315/30/18 rear michelin pilots. i really wanted to go 285 up front, but you guys suggested 275. what is the real difference if any that you can advise of. thanks.

I've always been a real fan of Michlin tires, but I put BFG KWDS on my vette with 275's on the front and 285's on the rear. I have been very happy with that combo. The BFG's are cheaper, and have a longer tread wear number so it seemed like the better deal to me. They are quiet, and seem to grip nicely. They are also an alweather tire, which should help control hydro planing in the rain, and maybe keep you out of trouble if you end up out in the snow in your Vette. Go onto Tirerack.com and read the reviews for yourself before you buy. You can read reviews of prospective tires for your specific car.

i just called and they agreed to let me change my order...so now i'm getting 18's in the rear. i was going to go with BFG as a matter of fact...mainly cause they were much cheaper than the pilots. i'm going to do some more research today and make a decision as they wheels are being shipped out tomorrow.

I went with the 9.5 all around with 285's. I want to be able to rotate. I'm happy with the setup, but may go with the 275's next time, it depends on how these tires track with some wear on them.

Here is a tire size calculator for you. I snagged it years ago from a Miata board but a tire is a tire no matter what its on. This will show you how much bigger/smaller a tire is in diameter and the difference in speedo.

I know this 91 Owner, he installed C6's 275/40ZR18 all around, no problems, no rubbing. You'll be safe with 18" wheels.

Your C4 will easy handle 285's all around
