Default setting tv cable

I was reading the article on how to do this and it seemed simple enough.
They say if you push the D shaped button, pull back the sheathing, fully depress the acc. pedal, and when it clicks the tv cable is set to factory specs.(considering it is stock)mine is.
So now my concern is that although it seems quicker and deffinatly has firmer shifts, it is shifting at a higher rpm when trying to accelerate from a stop. I either have to back off of the throttle or give it more, and when it does shift it is kind of snappy. Where as before it was a smoother shfit.
I would like to "unset" the cable. Can I do this? Back to its original position.
Thank you

When you opened the throttle did you hear it ratchet into position? Sometimes it sticks a little and you need to gently apply pressure to the cable itself while adjusting . Otherwise 1 click either side of the spec is acceptable. It is also possible your cable has stretched over time preventing proper adjustment. The spring in the tv valve could also be weak or broken.

Try moving the throttle to the WOT position, sometimes accelerator to the floor doesn't fully open the throttle.

When you move the cable head away from the firewall it lowers line pressure. This can lead to accelerated wear in the A4. The only way to be sure your TV cable is set properly is to have the line pressure checked by a shop.

Having said that, I have tweaked my TV cable a little to soften & lower my shift points.

If you want to do the same, proceed in small steps so that you don't lower line pressure any more than necessary to get the kind of shifts you like.

I know when I drive with the throttle easy, the shifts feel really smooth and it feels like my tranny is slipping. When I drive it hard, the shifts are very firm and crisp. I hear if you adjust the TV cable for the tranny to shift firmly no matter what, you can increase tranny clutch life because there is less slippage. Is this true?

Hey thanks,
I did just that and I think that I may have it back to where it was.
So you're saying that the firmer shifts and higher rpm gear change is how the tv cable is meant to be set?
My accel. pedal does bring the throttle all the way open.

before you adjust that, ( i know you already did though) place a mark somewhere on your line to indicate its position before you tamperd with it.
