LT1's don't have an oil cooler, at least both of mine don't.

Shouldn't need to take the engine out to get there...

Just need to put a "T" into the line going to the pressue side of the cooler. Plump the AccuSump in and it should work fine.

If yours doesn't have a cooler...put an adapter sandwich plate between the filter and the block. This gives you a pressure & return line to the engine. Put in a cooler and a "T" fitting on the pressure side and plumb it in....

You can do it without pulling the motor...

I just had one put in. It is a Morosso 3qt accusump. They installed in in the rear on the crossmember by my spare tire carrier (had to remove spare tire carrier). The accusump is connected at the oil temperature sensor. Looks pretty good to me, cant really see it unless you get down low and it is well protected. If you like, I can send you pictures later this week of it.

That's how mine is done as well.

I just ran it for the first time with the oil cooler and accusump this past weekend at Sebring in 100 degree heat.

210 water temperature
253 oil temperature
40 psi oil pressure in some of the high G corners

I am very happy with the results.

I think what Frank was trying to get across is that LT1 vettes did not come stock with an oil cooler. Not sure, but I think the F-body LT1s might have one though.

Mine is also in the rear where the spare tire used to reside. It too has the Electronic Valve with the manual switch in the cockpit.

Parts List from Canton:

Part Description
-------------------------------------
24-006 3 Qt Accusump
24-273 E.P.C Valving kit
24-200 Mounting Clamp (pkg of 2)
23-605 -10 Stainless steel braided hose ($15/ft)
23-245 1/2" npt to -10 AN steel adapter fitting (2 x $4.50)
23-725 Brass push in hose ends (package of 2)
22-550 SBC Oil Input adaptor

Plus numerous AN fittings. BTW, I have a Be-Cool radiator with a 160 stat, and use 90/10 water/antifreeze with 2 bottles of water wetter.
