Default Wiper arm collision

I ordered the upgraded wiper arms from Superior Chevrolet... and upon arrival and installation the arms are the wrong fit. They have too high of an Arch. the arms will not sit under the hood like the older model wiper arms. They worked great in getting rid of the collision but is just not right. I thought the upgraded arms from a newer C4 would work on older model vettes in curing the collision problems ? I got the part numbers from a forum member upon researching the topic and this is what I came up with....

L blade 22154985
R blade 22155368

L arm 10288071
R arm 10288072

John is going to find out why this is happening and get back to me. I'm pissed since this info was inaccurate. I also found that the person posted.... "Note you cannot mix 96 arms with older model blades". To me this shows that wiper blades and arms are two different things of course. If you got newer model arms and used newer blades.. they will work. Since I ordered these parts.. the newer model blades didn't even fit the newer arms. I had to put the old wiper blades on.

Any other helpful insight ?

Thanks

I don't know where you picked up the wiper arm info, but I wrote the original article several years ago:

https://corvette.westhaver.com/1985/wiper_arms.htm

You do need to replace the arms and blades together as the new arms have thicker blade pins. This is illustrated in the article.

If you get the correct parts, they should fit correctly under the lip of your hood.

I noticed the info you provided in the original article has the same part numbers I provided above. I ordered new blades to fit with the new arms. Ordered them all from Superior per part numbers provided. The pivot holes in the blades were too small for the new arms. I had to use my old blades to work with the new arms. Nethertheless it still didnt work. There was too much of an arch with those part numbers for the arms that it wouldnt fit under the lip of my hood.

Clearly there's a problem with the parts you received. Do the parts you received look at all like the ones shown in my article? The newer wiper arms do have larger blade pins and won't fit into the older blades. Also, both the new and old wiper arms have a very shallow arch. If your new arms are arched so much that they don't fit under the lip of your hood, it's likely you don't have the correct wiper arms.

Many people have performed the swap with good results. I'd double check the parts against the pictures and call Chris at Superior Chevy to insure you have the correct parts.

Don't give up!
