Default Coolant Leak

For the past week or so i have had a small coolant leak. All the hoses and hose clamps are brand new, tight and not leaking. The intake, thermostat and throttlebody gaskets have all been replaced. The coolant seems to coming from the top of the engine and dripping down. Im just wondering if anyone can think of any places it could be coming from. The circled area in the picture i have posted shows where the coolant is sitting and dripping down. Any suggestions would be great!

There is a coolant passage below the IAC housing; it bolts to the bottom of the throttle body. The leak could be coming from there...

BTW, those bolts deteriorate quite a bit, and often break off when you try to remove them.

Check the thermostat housing, it is made of thin cast alumnium and can crack around the base.

Default This looks like the leak I had

for a couple of years. At first I thought it was the stat housing also but it turns out it was the manifold to head joint. The factory installed bolt in front was only slightly tighter than hand tight. But tighting didn't help, I had to pull the intake and redo using Fel-pro intake set.

I always remove the throttle body when screwing around witht the thermostat housing to be sure I can tighten the thermo housing down properly

Also, this may be silly, but if you put the thermo gasket on top of the thermo deck, you will get a similar leak

You could allways to a TB coolant bypass to be sure that it's not that that is leaking, and pick up 15 RWHP at teh same time

Before doing that, I think I'd try removing the one bolt and putting thread sealer on the threads, and a little rtv form-a-gasket between the head of the bolt and the intake. Being cheep and lazy, I'd try cheep and easy before moving on to harder and more costly. If this is the source of the problem, replacing the gasket is probably the more 'right way', but the suggestion I made might be enough to address the complaint.

My son's gmc truck was leaking coolant past the threads on the intake. He wanted an edlebrock intake and carb anyway. Replaced the whole works including new bolts. Same leak. Did the thread sealer and rtv thing and no more leak.
