I need to get some weather stripping for around the front window. When i wash the car water gets in around the windows. I have checked a few places and the ones that have it in stock seem to run about $150. I don't mind spending $150 on it if I have to, but im always looking for a better deal so I can spend the money else where, like on the motor. Any one have any recommendations of sites to check for it?
I just replaced all my weatherstrip last winter while the car was being painted and I used cheap stuff, the top leaks worse now than it did with the original 20 year old stuff on it. I'm going to do it again soon and this time it's going to be GM. I've also heard nothing but good things about Corvette Rubber too.

Yeah the last thing you want to do is use cheap rubbers...that could be costly and cause for quite a suprise!
So far, I have not seen any weather stripping for the Corvette that I like. All I have seen is the coated foam, which I don;t care for at all. Once the rubber coating wears off, the foam underneath falls apart. I have lived with my old, frayed weatherstripping so far, because I could not see spending what I consider outrageous amounts of money for an essentialy poor product. Does anybody make weather stripping for these cars that is good, solid rubber, that can take a beating over the years? I have 35 year old weather stripping on my old Mopars that is in better shape than my ten year old Corvette. I love my Corvette, don;t get me wrong, and throw all the stones you want my way, but the weatherstripping has got to be the worst feature on the Corvette. I would love to see some company come out with a really high quality product here? I would buy it, and be happy to get it.
I just spent $195 dollars plus shipping to have new windshield weatherstripping sent to me from John at Superior Chevrolet in KS. I will be installing it this weekend. Too bad its not today because its raining. I will let you know how it turns out.
I'd recomend you go with the G.M.stuff.
At some point the hatch w/strip on mine was replaced with the hollow stuff. It looks and seals fine EXCEPT where it's joined together in the corners. It's pulling apart and creating a huge gap in both corners. The 13 year old origional stuff is certainly showing it's age but it does'nt leak.
Just had the windshield and weatherstripping replaced. First weatherstrip was a non-GM aftermarket part and it was a POS!! Couldn't close the doors without distorting the gasket so bad that it put pressure on the windshield moldings....the shop finally agreed that the gasket was sub-standard and bought & installed the GM part. All is fine - great fit and good seal. I wouldn't go with anthing other than the GM part....I know it costs extra but you get what you pay for, in this case.
