Default What is code H36 ?

95 LT1 when I parked it a couple of weeks ago in the garage it ran great. Attempted to start it today and I had to keep cranking. Finally it statred, the "service soon" light came on. I drove it and it runs fine but when I shut it down and try to start it back up, it takes quite a bit of cranking before it will start. The only code that it is showing is H36, when I use the "paperclip" in the ADL trick!. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but at the same time my AC compressor will not kick on. The fans work but no cold air. I checked the appropriate fuses and all are good The car has 10,000 miles on it. By the way I replaced the Opti Spark approx. 1,000 miles ago. I don't understand, the car ran fantastic when I parked it a few weeks ago!! Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Mark

Optispark High-resolution... if I am right with 1995 codes. I will have to check when I get home.

Does that mean a bad Opti Spark, AGAIN, after only 1,000 miles??

sadly, it could. I would like to hear if my assessment is correct... but I would also clear the code and see if you get a C36... H=history, C=current.

I am not sure if 1995 uses OBDI codes or OBDII codes... that's what I want to see confirmed.

However, GM having a bad part? never happens...

I keep attempting to clear by way of disc. the battery for a minute, than I get the usual c12 followed by a series of --- , than "H"36. This is the only code. Once I do get it started, why than does it run great, until I shut it down and attempt to restart? Minus the AC not working. Would this problem be a reflect upon my AC comp. not turning. I did all the work myself, I was pretty proud to have done it, now this. I hope it is not The OPTI again. I purchased a genuine GM OPTI. I even installed a Mezire electric H20 pump and front seal while I was at it. Please don't tell me I have to do this all over again. It has only been a few months ago! If it is not the Opti, what else????????? I always felt good when I could loan some info. and help to a Forum Member. It seems like it goes both ways! Thanks for your concern

you do have the OBDII connector, but the computer is still OBDI. OBDII didn't start until 1996...

With that in mind, I don't know when the codes switched. I do have that documentation at home, tho...

Any resolution to this? I have the exact same symptoms as you. I see code 36 is a fault to bad ground. I have spent a tone of time checking grounds and all is fine. Im at a loss and no idea why the AC cut out too
