What are the recommendations for the best oil filter to use in a '94 LT1?

Jeez, you're going to get a lot of opinions on this one!

My two cents, I use the K & N HP2001.

I'd stick with AC. They're much cheaper than the "special" brands, and AC was made specifically for your car. If you regularly change your oil and filter, there's no need to use an off-brand.

i agree, super fancy filters like $12 K&N or Mobil 1 are ludicrous and all it does is burn bigger holes in your pocket.

the line that goes "only the best for my baby" really cracks me up every time. nothing like being self-brainwashed

I read somewhere that the newer AC filters are made " offshore" (read: Korea ). Personaly, I have used K&n, Mobil 1, & Purolator Pure One

Purolator Pure One is a great overall choice, and they're very sensible at about $4.50 each for the "premium" filter

My vote is for one of the thick walled performance Hastings filters. Wixs are decent too. I agree that K&Ns and Mobil 1s are overpriced for what they do...but we're talking about a vette, so indulge. I have used all of them, but I definitely like hastings filters the best. I don't know a part number for the LT4, but if you go to a knowledgable local owned auto supplier and ask for the best Hastings filter for an LT4, you'll be in good shape. These filters WILL take alot of pressure for High rpm driving and racing, and the filter elements are impressive when compared to any nice filter like purolator. I wouldn't use fram, honestly unless you're racing a modified motor spinning high rpms just get an AC delco or purolator and change them often.

The logo to the left "tags" the sale to my dealership, which benefits my Vette raceteam and this forum (as does the links in my sig).

I use the AMSOIL SDF Oil Filter in my Z06 as well as my wife's Chevy Trailblazer. The AMSOIL SDF filter uses a special cellulose, synthetic and glass blend media to provide longer life and improved efficiency. Independent tests show that the AMSOIL SDF filter flows very well without sacrificing efficiency to do so.
www.oilfilterstudy.com has a decent comparison.

The correct part number for the 94 LT1 is the SDF23.
