YAY! Smog test failed
Ok, found the vaccuum leak. Swapped out the other 4 plugs. Looked like one of the plugs had never been changed. Took me forever to get to it. After that the car was running great, and even the MPG gauge was going up. It was running great. A lot more power etc.
I was like woohooo maybe that old plug was my misfire, and ill be good to go. ( I just bought the car, so I thought it was running like a old car with 160,000 miles)
Took it out, and drove it around for a bit, then I noticed the sound of the exhaust changed. So when I got back home I left the car running And I went to the back of the car.
The setup was dual exhaust with 2 outputs on each side. The 2 outlets on the passenger side seemed fine, with even amounts of exhaust going out each side. How ever on the drivers side it has one outlet with nothing comming out, and the other one is putting out a lot of the exhaust. (seems like more pressure.)
I think that backpressure could be messing with the A/F ratio. So I took off the old muffler and found peices of the cat in there. =-(
So I think i need to replace the cats now. I will probably end up replacing all of the exhaust. the whole exhaust. I looks like I have 3 cats.
Is it possible to replace the exhaust with a true dual exhaust, and only use 2 cats?
