climate control

I have an 86 with climate control, it won't turn off. Can this be fixed or does it have to be replaced?

You may have to take the system out of the dash and clean the electronic contacts. If this doesn't work then you will have to look for expert assistance or purchase a reconditioned one.

Do you mean the blower won't turn off, or the AC compressor won't shut off, or what?

Dr. Don (of Bose stereo fame) in Huntsville, Tx. can rebuild the unit. I can't remember what he charges, but it comes back looking and working like new.

Assuming it's the blower that continues to run, the problem is usually in the voltage return signal circuit from the blower to the control panel. It's protected by a 5 amp fuse mounted on the firewall. If the fuse is open, it will run on high blower only and may continue to run with the ignition off.
