strange noise
have a 1993, completely stock. when i start her up and get ready to take off, i hear this strange sound. it's like a motor on something turning on or off. i believe it's from the steering or something, because it doesn't do it until i get ready to steer. it does it the one time and no more. it's really confusing. i hope i'm describing it legitimately for assessment. thanks.

Could be the ABS unit doing its test. Is your foot on the brake when it makes the noise??? Is the noise coming from the pass side rear???

no, it usually does it once i take off and move the steering wheel. it's definitely coming from the front.

From what you describe I would say rack or pump but before investing in repairs on that I would try a flush and fill of the system. Some have had sucess will BG or other good additive to free up sticking items.

The noise you hear is your ABS pump behind the driver seat. This will happen every time you start and reach approx 3 MPH.
