tire noise?

My 92 six speed at 75000 miles has what sounds like tire noise like a broken cord on one of the Kumho tires. That whumping sound changes with speed. What concerns me is it is gets louder when I brake firmly. I have a little play in the right front wheel bearing opposed to none on the left. Sounds like it comes from the rear but old age and bad hearing is setting in. Brakes are new and tires wear even. Could it be a wheel bearing??? Any suggestions?

sounds to me like your describing the sound a bearing makes before something bad happens, and you already said you know its shot.

At least that's what it sounds like your describing from my experience.
