Alternators

In Hot Weather With Both Radiator Fans Working My A/c Fans Dim A Bit. Will Be Going To The Bigger Spal Fans And Wanted The Extra Poop.
Any Suggestions?
He told me he was familiar with how hot LT1 engine compartments can get (which can deteriorate the integrity of the alternator). I remember the tech said he installed, what he nick named, a "cooling pack" to help keep a high resistance to heat. I don't know what it entails, if anything, but whatever he did, it works like a champ. This was all for $80 even (MUCH cheaper than a new alternator). I charge, after I start the car, at 14.8 V, and with the radio pounding, headlights on, cooling fans on, and interior lights, while sitting in traffic (coming home from school in Worcester) I charge at 13.4 V. If I even hit the gas to move in traffic (spin up RPM's), it jumps up to 13.8-14.0 and stays constant. I never notice any dimming or electrical drain.
I would suggest looking around (I don't know the price of shops where you reside) to see if a shop can build you one to spec for cheaper than a 140 amp alternator, or even a replacement 120 amp.
Take Care!
