Default Idle Speed (Won't Adjust..)

Maybe I'm doing this wrong, but I went to adjust my idle speed this afternoon, and I can't get it to go under 700RPM! The guy who owned the car before me raised it all the way the hell up to 800RPM, and I defintately don't want it to stay up there. Could it be something sticking on my TB to make this happen?

Thanx in advance!

Could be your EGR valve is partially stuck open or maybe it's your injectors. Have you cleaned your IAC pintle and throttle body recently? I make it a habit to clean both annually. Really makes 'em mellow at idle.

I haven't cleaned my IAC pintle (Not sure how), but I have cleaned my TB. I also replaced my injectors about a month ago. I'll never replace those by myself again =P lol

Chances are your IAC is messed up. Mine did the same thing.
Remove the IAC (easiest way is to use a pair of long nose vise grips to get a hold of it.) Clean and reainstall.

Next you need to follow the proceedure in the shop manual.
1. Short the diagnostic terminal and turn the key on for 30 seconds.
2. Unplug the IAC (leaving the ignition on).
3. Remove the jumper on the diagnostic terminal.
4. Crank car (do not turn ignition off).
5. Adjust idle to 450 rpms.
6. Turn car off.
7. Plug IAC up.
8. Verify TPS is at 0.54 volts. Your manual will show you how but.
1. unplug and install 3 bare wires (I use 12 guage solid wire cut from a ground wire) between the conector and the plug
2. Turn ignition on and verify voltage is 0.54 between the middle and lower wire (I think those are the two wires).
3. Loosen and adjust as needed.

IAC is probably your problem.

The RPM setting can only be done in the AM.
THe engine should be set cold and work with Idle until the engine is up to operation temp.

Thanx to all for helping =) I got it to work last night. I wasn't unplugging the IAC from the TB. I was unplugging the top plug (power..?) But it's all better now and doesn't idle too fast =) Thanx to all again!
