Default Brake Booster problem

So I feel like driving the Vette again after a long hiatus...

I go out and i have a stiff pedal..

I changed the booster about 2 years ago, less than 5K miles

I do have pressure, as when I shut it down, pull the fitting, it releases a lot of pressure, even after a while.

Is there a fuse or an ECM for the booster? Anything inside that little box behind my seat that i never want to go into?

Thanks!

Help me get rolling again!

BTW- I NEED ZAINO

Can't offer any help, but where the hell have you been? Haven't seen you on here in over a year at least.

No fuses involved, you either had a gasket dryrot or the diaphram has been in the same spot so long that it is stuck in place. Else, you got a cheap booster and it has gone bad.
Do you here a hiss when the brakes are pressed, if you do the booster is bad.
If not, try driving around for a while and press the brakes hard. This might free up the diaphram.
Cars have to be started and driven to get most parts to last, when cars sit for a while especially in heat, seals and rubber parts dryrot or stick to themselves causing them to break faster.

Hey Gus! good to see your back here. Did you give the cousin a hello from me?

On the brakes. Best bet would be to check vacuum with a vacuum gage to see if your pulling a vacuum on the booster. Check the line that comes off the booster to your plenum. Maybe some creature chewed a hole in it or stashed some debris in it.

There is a check valve in the booster that doesn't allow air to come back out through the hose, so it might be pulling a small vacuum but not enough to make the brakes work properly.

I would pull the vaccuum line off and check it with a gage. If you have 13"+ the line is not the problem.

Make sure the check valve is not stuck.

You can try to bleed the brakes also to see if the peddle depresses upon opening of the bleeders.

Water is attracted to brake fluid and can cause problems so good flushing is probably in order too.

Good luck!

Well I have been driving with the family alot, and we dont all fit in the Vette! I have also been a long project which is about 70 miles from home so i have a long drive each way and I dont use the Vette for that, its not practical or cheap, in fact, I sold my Mustang GT Vert and got a PT Cruiser to be a daily driver. The Tranny giving up and the guy at Redline Performance Transmissions doing a crappy job really soured me on the Vette, almost made me want to sell it. In fact, its for sale for the right price!

I have also returned to my favorite hobby, RC Planes and Helis, and I am really spending my most of my entertainment $ on the Helis, a 90 size Nitro heli costs about $2500 and theres a lot of tweaking, tuning, hopping up, and upkeep, not to mention crashes!

I dont hear a hissing sound, and the car is garage kept, so its not dry rotted nor is a critter in there, but I think the diaphram being stuck seems logical since the car was parked for at least 4 months at one period. How would I go about unlodging the diaphram?

Oh, I did send an email to your cousin, and she said, I figured you must be one of his car friends!!!
