91 vette going crazy
the would run perfect till one night i started it and the starter seemed to be turning slow but the car fired up and i started driving. i looked at the battery gauge thing and saw the the needle was down near the 8 when usually its in the middle. the dash was also flashing "sys" in the screen. the next morning it starts slowly and the needle is still at the 8. when at a stop light the needle just goes down past the 8 and the whole dash goes blank and the car dies on me. i jumped and it would do the same thing a couple minutes later. what could this possibly be? thanks

Your alternator sounds like its fried. May as well replace the battery while your'e there to keep from overheating the new alt. Had the exact same symptoms (even after the alt. tested "good").

If your battery is shot, I recommend an Optima Yellow or Red Top.

Batteries are discharged at 12.0 volts! Your alternator is not charging the battery and you should have seen the red battery symbol light turned on, on the dash which tells you the alternator is not charging the battery. Charge your battery up with a battery charger and take your alternator to an auto parts store for testing and replace it if it tests defective.
