Will be replacing all my brake hoses this weekend and my question is,for those in the know, Looking at the Helm's manual it says to replace the 2 aluminum gaskets(washers) on each side of the hose which connects to the caliper. Now, can I use copper washers instead? Any other advice welcome since I've never done this before. Thanks And one last question, I've got 2 new drilled and slotted rotors from 96zride,freebees!!! Thanks again Mike, that I'll put on,and need to know what size is the mounting plate bolts? That's all for now
Bogus- that was my concern, got a set of washers from Corvette Central, and they're copper, not brass like the hose ends. May be putting this off till I get the right washers. Do have both a Hayne's and Chilton manual(go ahead and rag on me!!!,but they do have some good pictures) and one of them talks about copper washers.
Maybe I can help. I used to restore and work on Triumph motorcycles. The bikes came from the factory with copper washers and head gaskets. In order to re-use them, we heated them with a torch to cherry red, dunked them in water, scrapped off any black residue and installed them. The heat makes them "mallable" so they'll seal. Hope this helps.
