Default Headlight guys,,,HELP (1987)

I installed headlight gears and new wiring in my headlight motor assembly and just powered it up for the first time. There is a click every 8 seconds coming from it. It sounds like it is cycling something internally. I can feel it on the manual operating **** and hear it loudly. It seems to operate properly when turned on and off and if it weren't for the ticking sound it would seem perfect.
What have I put together wrong?

Almost sounds like one of the grears arn't lining up at start. Just a guess tho.. I'd just recheck the grears and alignment. Don't want to break your new install.

If it is "clicking" after it is opened or closed, you have an electrical problem. Sounds as if the motor isn't shutting off.

It started doing it immediately upon reconnecting the battery. I then cycled the lights to see it they worked properly, which they did. They continued to click about every 8 seconds for about a half hour while I was attempting to troubleshoot the problem. It sounds like the motor is energising to turn in the off position, incountering resistance (since it's already in the off posiyion) and triping on thermal overload.

If that is, in fact, the what's happening could it be gear timing as "vinnies87" sudgests?? Short of taking the other headlight motor apart, how do I get instructions to do this??

Thanks for the tip, but I went there and printed it out and it doesn't cover MY headlight motor. That "motor repair" is for 1988 and newer sytle motors. Mine would be in the 1984 - 1987 style.
