Inconsistent Starting ('92)
Car has been running great since, until today. It rained like crazy here yesterday (car was out in it), this morning, car started right up, went to a friend's house across town. an hour later, went out, and it would not start. Had lights,12 volts (according to dash digital gauge). Waited awhile, and it started right up!!! WTF??
It would not start as if I didn't have the clutch pedal pressed down, absolutely nothing. ( I did have the clutch pressed to the floor)
I was thinking maybe Neutral Safety Switch (a long shot) or maybe the starter again???
Is it turning over for a while before starting? Turning over slow? or not turning over at all?
nothing ! Ita as if you're trying to start w/out the clutch pushed in, but of course I had the pedal to the floor. I had all accessories, lights, battery voltage looks ok and I have a 2 month old starter ( not that thats a guarantee its good, but less likely).
I saw a thread about the same symptoms, that my key might be getting worn, b/c I waited a little while, and it started right up like normal!
It really could be a few different things.. Including the clutch switch, starter soleniod, wiring burnt up, etc.
I think you would notice if it had low voltage..
