Default 1984 newbee Bob

I finally bought a Vette, 51 years young - Being New to the Vette scene, What can I do to my 1984 motor to inhance its get-up-and-go ? Car has low mileage and runs great as is. Everything I see pertains to earlier, or later models.

Thanks for the Input, I have even considered possibly having to converting to an LS1 to up the HP. This may be more cost effective.

I put a 383 in my 84. I am running a XRam with 2.13 inch TBs for now.

Maybe start by having a look at this site!
http://www.x-ram.com/crossfireinfo.html
You might find more answers or suggestions in the Tech/Perf section.

Thanks, I actually did visit this site last week. I need to contact them to get cost and order info. This does sound like an easier solution than a complete rebuild. I do have a couple of issues to deal with, roller rockers as well as cam replacement. I have to do more research to make the correct match with the rest of the system, I only have 53K on the 84, still has alot of life in the old Girl. Thanks again for the advice.

Hey Rohn -

RLYNCH - Be carefull with the XRam.. I also need to state that this is not meant as a bash on the XRam. If you are planning on keeping the motor stock or close to it you would be better off porting your stock manifold vs a XRam. Because of its single plane design you will loose some bottom end torque. I did some tests at the track running the 1/4 and the XRam with 1.6 rockers on a stock motor actually got slower by 2-3 tenths vs a ported stock manifold and 1.6 rockers. A good ported stock manifold should be good to about 280-300hp at the crank - depending on he cam/head combo and exhaust.

It does work quite well on my 383. Needless to say, as with any product, it is the application that is important.
