Default tires for saw blades

hey guys my back tires are about bald. Id love to buy new wheels and mount new tires at the same time but i dont ahve the $ right now.

what are some good sticky tires i can buy for the 1996 lt1 with the stock saw blades.

Id like the widest i can safely get as well as the stickiest and yes they can be street legal slicks. as well as a link where to buy them and cost.

thanks

How much do you want to spend? I went with stock-size Goodyear F1 GS-D3's and yes they are sticky (and look cool)

Prices are for front/back each from
www.tirerack.com

You can go with bigger (I think your wheels are 8.5/9.5 inches in width which yeild 255/45-17 and 285/40-17), I have 275's on 8.5's that I autocross with, you could probably fit 305's on the back, but the price goes up with the size of the tire!

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 $216/268**
Kumho Ecsta MX $133/149

** The Michelin's don't come in 285-17, so I used 275-17 since it's about the same thing.

How do you like those choices?

There are Kumhos that are stickier than Goodyear F1 GS-D3, but yes they do wear much quicker. There are Kumhos that range from street use to track only slicks. All are cheaper than Goodyears or Michelins, none will wear as long.

If you want cheap and sticky you aren't going to get long wearing. Go on the Road racing forum and ask which Kunhos work for street running and track running combined. Those guys have tried and abused them all.

Sticky straight line or sticky cornering?

Sticky straight I would go with BFG DR's 315.
I'm on my third set.
Sticky cornering? Listen to the other guys

I'm thinking 160 or so each.

Quick way to find out is to go to Tire rack's web site.

Just punch in the info and there ya go!

They are a supporting vendor I think.

I use the dr's when I cruise around town.
I use Hoosier slick's at the track. FYI....
