Where is the fuel pump relay physically located?
I've been reading all of these 'no start' threads and it has me wondering if my relay is bad. I have no problems with my car; it's been running great the four months I've owned it. However I read about 'hearing the fuel pump run' for two seconds when the ignition is turned on. I have never heard this sound. Where is the relay located on my '89 6-speed? Thanks as always!
Look kind of between your wiper motor and your brake vaccum booster on the firewall. It will be a small black relay mounted on a bracket with the plug going into the bottom.
Generally, when the relay fails, it results in long cranking times. The oil pressure switch will act as a backup in case of relay failure.
Easy to test, easy to replace.
Yours may be running but you just can't hear it in the car. The fuel pump is very quiet on my 84. To hear it, someone else has to turn the key on with the car off and I have to have my ear very close to it.
Of course, I grew up in the 70's. Arena concerts may have something to do with my lack of hearing in my 40's
