Here it is 7am Sat. morning and I'm putting on my freebee D&S rotors. No problem with the L side, but that PIA Right side is frozen solid !!! I've sprayed liberal amounts of PB Blaster to it,and it won't budge, and ideas??? I'm heading out to the garage to wack on it a few more times(the rotor that is) so I'll check back in awhile. Thanks
Not exactly sure where your probelm is. Please give us more info. Year of car would help. Is rotor rusted to brake pads? Front or rear? Do youhave the caliper off already ? Will try to help if I can.
If it's a rear you can use a big two or three arm puller on it.
Also in the rear, there are holes in the hub so you can get a punch on it from the back side and bang on it from the center so you're less likely to damage the bearing.
Took both of these together to get mine off. My hubs were out of the car - probably a pain to get to those holes if it's on the car.
I have not tried this on my Vette but I have done it on my Explorer and
a Toyota. Take a 5 pound hammer and hit the rotor right between the bolts. Be very carfull not to hit the bolts. A couple of hard hits and the rotor pops off.
You can always put a wheel back on it, leave the lug nuts a little loose and use the brakes a few time (slow speed only) that should break the frozen rotor from the hub.
I am wary of wailing on the rotor with a BFH due to the sealed bearings in the hub!
When I did mine, all 4 rotors were like welded on the hubs. I had to fight everyone and it took 2 days to get them all off. I sprayed them down with lots and lots PB...then I used woodworking clamps (adjustable screw type) on the back of the rotors...and a piece of flat seel bar across the front of the hub to clamp against....2 per rotor evenly spaced. I kept turing the clamps a little tighter every hour and kept the PB going. They finally popped off. I didn't want to beat on the rotors as the wheel bearing don't take kindly to that.
OK I'm back, the rotor was frozen to the hub,and after letting some PB Blaster work,I finally gave it wack with a "large blunt instrument" and persuaded it to come off. Man,what a pain in the BUTT!!! That rotor was really frozen on to the hub!! New ones are on,and looking good! I what to thank all those who left me a post while I was outside,I really appreciate the support
