Default What is going on?

A couple of weeks ago my fuel pressure gauge (AutoMeter) quit working...there didnt seem to be any difference the the cars performance...then a couple of days ago I glanced at it and it was reading 45 lbs. as it used to. Then a couple of days later I got into the car and started down the road and the gauge was reading 0. A few minutes into the trip the fuel pressure slowly started to rise. About 20 minutes later the pressure us up to 45 lbs. Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

Check all the connections on the gauge. Sounds like and electrical problem with the gauge/sending unit.

Pull the weather pack on the sending unit and check the voltage. If it is reading .6 vlts on the grey and 7 vlts on the purple at idle, your gauge has bit the big one. Send it back to autometer and they will send you a brand new one. No voltage at all? Check for 12v at the red wire at the gauge. Good there? then you have a short somewhere in between. I don't know how you wired your gauge, but mine slid under the clutch pedal once and severed the wires. Let us know what you find...

I forgot to mention that the fuel pressure gauge is mechanical. only wires are for the lights. There is a fuel line running directly from the macrofueler to the gauge.

By the way, change the fuel filter. It's a bit of a pain, but they clog very easily. Remember to de-pressurise the fuel system first and look out for the little rubber grommets that seal the filter to the fuel lines. The filter is next to and slightly above the passenger side CAT.

Also check the sock on the fuel pump. I have seen some posts on the forum regarding this job - I will be doing it myself soon.
