Default cut air box lid

I have a STOCK LT4, and I came across an extra air box lid. Would it pay to cut up the lid? Would the OE LT4 programming be able to deal with the extra air flow?? I wouldn't want it to run lean...

Cutting the lid and installing a K&N should be worth 10chp.

The power vs A/F curve is broad enough that this mod should not run you too lean at WOT with an otherwise bone stock LT4. If you make other air flow mods you might want to add an AFPR to get full benefit from them.

I just plan on removing every other fin. so a 50% decrease of restriction... No K&N, just keeping the current filter. So I'm thinking the PCM should be able to handle that..
thx

I wouldn't bother, on an otherwise stock LT4 I doubt you will see any gain. You will however, be cleaning your filter more often.

On a stock car it's not going to make a difference. Once you start doing heads and cam it will be worth about 5 RWHP over the factory lid.
