I ordered a set of Headers from EM in this last GP. My application is a 1992 LT1. My question is can the AIR system be removed and cats with no AIR provisions be installed without any bad effects to the car's performance? Also would i need to have the EPROM retuned, and would it still pass emissions? Thanks for any help.
I have a 92 LT1 also and there is no AIR tube running to the cats if that is what you are asking. The AIR system just uses an EGR valve. Why are you removing the system?
I'm sick of working around all the emissions crap on top of the manifolds and when I install the headers I was looking to free up one side. I figure I can't get rid of the EGR and still pass so I was hoping to ditch the AIR. Unless I have no idea what I'm talking about because I assumed one side of the manifolds had the AIR and one side had the EGR. Mostly my goals were to make as few holes in the headers as possible and to unclutter the engine bay a little. THanks for all the help
Get rid of it. I disabled my EGR and removed the AIR tubes as well. Don't drill out the headers for the EGR/AIR tubes, and get EGR block off plates for the intake and you should be set. You then just have to program the computer to turn off the EGR codes. It is so much nicer not having all that crap getting in the way to work on the engine, and the car runs better than it ever has.

I don't know about a '92 but on my '95 no codes are caused by eliminating the EGR. It has an electrical switch through which the vacuum to the EGR passes. Leaving it hooked to the electrical supply is all that's required to satisfy the computer. The hoses can of course, be eliminated.
I need to get ahold of an EGR block off plate for mine. I added the headers and also removed the EGR and AIR systems. But I can't find a plate to block it off (the larger, diamond sized hole). Any suggestions?
