The Superram is a great choice for a L98 guy.. but there is absoulutely nothing lacking from a LT1's torque curve from heavily modified to stock. Notice the broad torque curve in this little collection of LT1 dynosheets.
Theres no way in hell I would put a superram on a LT1.. LT1's are torque monsters from the factory with the ability to pull to 6500rpm with the right heads/cam.
Those are nice.. So with a ported LT intake on top of a 383, I could get solid torque above 400 hp from 3000 rpm up to 5500/6000, and max power above 6000 rpm and a red line of 6500?
yup the short runners of the lt1 are great at high rpm range, of course they give up a just bit of torque on the low end (but who races at 2-3k? besides the stroker kit more than makes up for that!)
remeber mostly what you're doing by adding those parts is raising the torque, the curve of that lt1 will remain quite flat and help distrbute that power over longer distances...
The mid length super ram runners help with the low end as well as the high end and the whole thing fits under a stock hood.

I agree totally,a waste of money and time on an LT1.It might feel a little stronger in the street,(maybe at the stoplights)but I would bet an LT1 with similar components and a ported LT1 or 4 manifold would wave in the 1/4,or out on the highway.Plus, they always seem to leak.
The runner lenght in the superram pretty much make it over with at 5800+ rpm.
Out of all the cars we dyno the LT1 is always a extremely torquey nice curve.... That includes all the mustang 2v, 3v, 4v, 5.0, LS1, L98, etc.
Interesting...the Lt intakes would be a much better for a stroker then? the 350 may benefit from the superram, but i'd guess that if you have a nice high revvin 383 you'd make the most outta the Lt intakes.
It doesn't lack torque in a 350 either. Sure the superram might make more torque before say 4k, but it also looses torque and hp much past 5k. I'll bet if you do the math you'll find that the LT1 has more total under the curve torque and horsepower.
I dont know if i'd spend the money to buy a SR if i already had an LT1, but IMO the SR is a better intake for a street/strip 350. It's a lot easier to utilize the low end torque in a street config than making the tradeoffs to optimize the top end. And in a heavy street car, torque is more important to get the car moving. I know this well beaten debate, but that's just been my experience building/observing both setups. Carry on................................
Sounds like a hell of a lot of money to make about 50-60 hp, if moneys no object have at it. Did they do this buildup in d.c.? .....we know moneys no object there! You need to take any magazine article with a grain of salt, if you wait 30 days some one will come out saying something else!.....joe
