Default Hood Stuck

Anyone had problem on 1995 model with passenger side hood latch not releasing? Drivers side releases just fine.

in general sounds like (1) bad cable to ds side, or lock outa adjustment, and does happen to all yrs.

You might try my setup in case it happens in the future.

I have no problem doing the modification once I get hood up. I have pushed up and down a hundred times. Tapped on passenger side post with long screwdriver and hammer, pushed up and down, pried, sat, stood...you name it. It's not budging on passenger side.

Gordon Killebrew offers a tool for use in such situations. These may
also be available from Mid America and other Corvette vendors.

The tool is a rod fabricated into a 'Z' shape. It is inserted forward
from the door hinge area with the intent of hooking and releasing
the latch mechanism

When you get this fixed up, periodic lubrication using a motorcycle
cable lube tool can help extend cable life.

You can also remove the wheel well cover and get to the release that way...

You cannot remove the top wheelwell cover unless you want to grind off the rivets.Since late '93 they changed from screws to rivets.
I did make my own tool from 3/16" rod.Its looks like an elongated "Z".
The short end that releases the lock is 1" long, the other end which is the handle can be any length.End to end its 14" long. Will try to send pictures.Cant send pictures until I figure out how.

Default Stuck Hood

Thanks for all your responses gentlemen. I got it open finally. Turns out the clip which attaches cable to passsenger side latch went 10-7 and disappeared. I took wheel well cover off (mine only had 6 screws holding it on) and it took over an hour but finally got it unlatched after trying numerous screwdrivers...etc.

Imaruby, when you can please send me a pic of that tool. I would like to send it to friend of mine in case this happens again so he can make one. I don't think Killebrews tool would have helped me since it looks like....not sure..but looks like it's designed for drivers side and would not address unattached cable on passenger side. I emailed him but didnt get a response.

Im going to get new clip tomorrow, but I have feeling it might happen again. My cables and everything is lubed just fine, but I think there is inordinary amount of tension on cable when pulled on b/c my hood isn't adjusted correctly. It took a hit before I owned it on front drivers side. I don't want to pay body shop to re adjust until I get full amount to pay for entire paint job...etc.
