Block IAC for Idle Cure?
I'm suspicious of the IAC pintle of my '85. Can't get the idle to 850 rpm. Set everything "by the book". Still no luck. Chevy made 3 different shape pintles so maybe I've got a mis-match. Or The IAC is defective. 
What would be the effect(s) if I blocked the IAC threaded hole with a dummy IAC ? Any suggestions welcome and appreciated. Jack

If you followed the book precedure and set minimum idle correctly, then any change in the dole from the minimum air setting when the IAC is plugged back in proves the IAC is working. If you have an auto trans, you aren't going to see 850 at warm idle, the idle RPM is programmed into the PROM and the IAC is going to do what it has to to achieve that RPM.
