Default which aftermarket computer is best

My is an 86 vet and has the following mods. 400 sbc, fast burn heads, tips miniram 3, custom comp cams, 3.54 gears, full length headers, no cats, automatic.

My problem is that I can not get the tune right. I have put in two custom burned chips in the stock ecu and cannot get the car to run right. It runs O.K. It runs rich most of the time.

I do not want to waste more money on custom chips anymore and I am leaning more towards getting an aftermarket ecu. Which do you guys think will work best for my vet. I plan on upgrading to a solid roller pretty soon but I am forced to wait until I get the tune right.

Have any of you run the Commander holley ecu? The f.a.s.t. ecu?
accel dfi? I would really like to keep the cost down as much as possible. but I will not sacrifice quality for cost. I believe in only buying parts one time. I plan on dropping a 434 in the near future or after I blow the 406. Any advice or guidence from you vetmasters is greatly appreaciated.

I have experience with the Accel models (6.0 and Gen 7), FAST, Haltech and BS3. Though I really lean towards FAST (I have two FAST systems), the new BS3 is way ahead of the others. These are all big money systems (~$2500 for the system w/wbO2), but will probably be required when you step to the 434. I have always used the 406 as the practical limit of the factory ECM when doing FI applications.

Best of Luck in your decision.
