85 Automatic Trans Question
does my 85 have a governor gear ? if it does where do i find it ? i just fixed a leaky trans coolant line, all of the sudden the car started shifting funny, so i checked and added fluid to correct level, now car won't shift out of 1st.

Follow the shop manual and adjust the tv cable. On the drivers side of the trans, toward the rear of the unit, there is a 3 inch diameter round cap. It is usually rusty. Tap it from the pass side with a large screwdriver and hammer to pop it off. Pull the gov out and inspect the gear and squeeze the weight to watch the center valve move. It should move at least .025.
it is on the right side under that round cap.
