Default Help!!! Crossfire With High Co

During the test here in Spain the CO was measured 1.8 % at idle and 0.9 at 2000 RPM. That is way too high It has to be 0.5% at Idle
Is a crossfire engine capable of doing that?
Also they let you wait 1 hour or more Than the engine is cold and they immedeately measure. (but I saw thet it did not differ much from hot)
Is there something wrong? I am not aware of USA law of that year, so dont´t have a reference.
Is there a trick to lower CO ?, I do not feel to bad doing that, all spanish cars before 1990 may have 3.5 at Idle!!, Why I can´t I have that is not clear to me (Spain is different) I did read somthing like adding methanol to the gas or so. I have to pass to get Spanish licence plates than I have a year more to solve the problem correctly before the next test.

Part of your problem may stem from the fact that you have a 1984 engine, subject to 1987 smog standards. To pass, MY CO has to be at 1.20% at idle and also 1.20% at 2500 rpms. Generally, a rich air/fuel mixture will cause high CO readings. Good luck, and...
