I want to change the tranny fluid in my 4+3 and change the filter in the o/d but I can't find the dipstick to see if how much to put in when I'm done. I though it was supost to be behind the valve cove on the passanger side. A pic may help
Nope. It's filled through a pipe plug on the side. There's no torque converter or such, so it's pretty much fill 'til it runs out the hole. If you're "****" recheck it again after a few miles of OD use.
All you need to do is fill the fluid from the bolt hole on the side of the Overdrive Unit until it starts pouring out. Its easy to fill I just did this about 2 weeks ago on my 4+3 works great.
Thanks for the info. I was looking through a shop manual and it showed a pic of the dip stick. Though maybe my was broken or something. I found the plug hole so it should be no problem. Again thanks

I've always filled it while the car is running on jackstands. This is the easiest way to make sure you're filling up the cooler lines and get everything in that GM calls for.
I've thought putting a fill nipple on the top cooler line would be a good idea, but then I just tore them out. And the transmission too.
