Need help communicating with a 93
I bought the cable and the software (TTS datamaster), but can't get my car to spill her guts.
I'm trying to figure out what pins I need to connect to on the vehicle ALDL connector. I'm waiting to get a response from the cable supplier (ALDLcables.com) but in the meantime thought some of you might know.
My cable has a line to only 2 pins:
M (Tan) serial data line
E nothing on my car, must be for L98 cars
Do I need any other connections at the ALDL connector, or do I need to short the pins together like when reading codes through the cluster?
Pin B, diagnostic enable, looks like it might need a connection or a ground.
Secondly, for those who use this SW, have you had trouble communicating? According to the TTS manual I need to adjust the ALDL timing to get a handshake. I've tried values from 0-300 (in 5 ms increments) and still can't communicate. I get the message:
ALDL adapter is working, and unknown data was detected. This may be an upsupported PCM type.
When trying to sample, I get the "No PCM sync" error, which supposedly means that the timing window needs teaking.
Anyone with a 92/93 know what they set their handshake timing to?

I used the same cable and datamaster on my 93 with no problems.You did have it plugged into the cig lighter right?It won't work without it.You are using a serial port on your laptop I hope because USB connections have some trouble sometimes.I do get a lot of drops in the data but it works.
