Default Distributer cap question, L98

The L31 short block is up and running with all the 89 stuff and the newer style 113 heads. I'm still taking it alittle easy but have an interesting problem. Dead cold up to whenever I shut it off it runs great. Idleing, parkway, 1/2 hour or 2 hours makes no difference. But most times on a half hour delayed hot restart it runs like crap, rough idle lack of smooth power. Tonite it did it and after a 20 mins run it ran OK again?? I did catch it one night while in it's rough idle mode and saw no grounding or arcing from the plug wires. Hooked up the timing light on each wire and the #8-#4-#3 weren't flashing the timing light the same as the other leads were (weak / not as often). Most stuff is new on this build up including the cap, rotor, wires and of course the plugs. The cap is a Standard Motor products as is the 8mm wires. Since the 3 bad firing wires are next to each other on the cap I suspect the cap. Any ideas? And what is the best brand cap for the HEI Dizzy. TIA

I've got a NAPA on mine but any quality cap with BRASS contacts should be okay. The aluminum contact caps are not worth putting on. Same goes for the rotor, brass only.

Look at the inside of the cap it probably has carbon tracks.

You might even look to see if the contacts in the cap are showing any
sign of uneven wear-I know in my boat with twin 350s I had to have the bushings replaced in the distrbutors.I know it sounds wierd-but they do wear out.
