Default temp sensor

Hi guys,

I am looking for the reference of the temperature sensor that makes the cooling fan turn at a lower temperature for a 92 LT1 in order to have the car run cooler.
Thx
Greg

I ordered mine from Ecklers about 14 years ago. I assume they, and all of the other mail order companies have them.

Both of your fans are controlled by the ECM. Unless you have a defective engine coolant sensor which is used to control most all engine operations, you are going to have to change or alter your prom, to adjust the fan on temps.

There isn't one for your Year per se as both fans are controlled by the PCM based on the input from the Coolant Temp Sensor (or the a/c pressure switch if the a/c is on). You can work around that by using an external switch that will complete the Relay ground at whatever temp is programmed into the sensor. It will thread into the plugged boss in the left head and then you will need to splice it's lead into the ground side of the main fan relay (and the secondary too if you want both to come on at the same time). The only problem is that the fan(s) are going to continue to run regardless of speed (the PCM shuts them off at about 35 to 40 mph now) or until the temp threshold is reached that opens the switch and some say the fans running at cruise impede cooling. Otherwise, it's probably better to reflash the PCM or simply make sure the cooling system is working as designed. Have yet to see an engine failure on a modern, computer controlled car where the programmed fan function was to blame yet there seem to be plenty of problems because the coolant was neglected and the radiator and coolant passageways got plugged up.

Or you can plum in 2 remote toggle switches to turn them on / off manualy. If you need the instr. for this set up for your 92 let me know and I'll email them to you. ...giving STRICK the credit as I got them from him.
